Macrium / Acronis problems so using IFW from terabyte

On Windows 8 I couldn't get Macrium free to work properly when backing up an SSD to a USB3 external disk. I know this is W7 but some people will be testing W8 too so they will want a backup mechanism that works both on W7 and W8.

I've had too many issues with Acronis to continue to use it any more -- from about version 2010 they screwed up the interface -- started adding "Services" etc, and in general making it more bloated. Version 2011 was just about bearable but 2012 and 2013 totally screwed up and they've gone bananas with the whole licensing procedure - I've had it with them.

I was recommended Terabytes Image for Windows -- does the job perfectly on W7 as well as W8 -- nice clean interface, can copy and restore all sorts of partitions such as Linux etc etc , bare metal recovery and can be used on 3 computers. It's cheaper also than Acronis and you can try it for 30 days too.

If you are looking for a decent backup with the latest hardware (USB3 / RAID / GPT / UEFI) then this less well known program could be the solution.

I was actively looking for a change from Acronis for a while but Macrium failed so I'm glad I found this

I agree with you about TI. Version 2013 doesn't play well with respect to 'bare metal recovery' on Win 8 on a EUFI machine. The Recovery Disk will not boot without having to enable the legacy mode at boot time and then enabling Secure mode after the restore.

You got me interested in the Terabytes offering. Did you test the Recovery disk on an EUFI machine?
