Okay, so I'm trying to boot into a laptop. I made the rescue media on a usb disk from another computer and it doesn't have the usb driver for this laptop. It loads fine into X:boot drive. When I look under 'unsupported devices' the USB is listed -- I tried scanning the windows, sys32, drivers folders but didn't get any results. But I was able to find the driver via Windows Catalog using the Ven Dev numbers (its just a .cab file but I can open it and find the inf and cat files). I've tried adding the driver to the rescue media manually by copying it in the root folder or drivers folder, but it doesn't show up in the X:boot drive in the laptop. If I make a new media on another computer I see an option to update a driver but not support for a device.

Does anyone know a way I can add the driver manually?

Thanks.

Because winpe is loading successfully without needing that driver, you probably need to instruct it.
command prompt:
pnputil.exe -i -a <path-to-.inf >

Unless macrium might load it when asked, in which case you could try mounting the wim and installing the driver using dism.
