Macrium help

I have a hp i5 with windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
i have free version macrium reflect free edition.
i need to partition my 320gb hard disk into 90gb and the rest.
By creating a recovery disc with macrium will this help in any way.

My question is:
1. How to recover my os if i format and partion my hard disk or is there any other way to do it?

2. If i make a recovery disc with macrium free version will i be able to recover my os after pationing my hard disk?

Please help me.

#1 you will need the OS image (using macrium free version)on it's own partion or external hard drive .
#2 yes the recovery disk you will use to boot to the image an restore your OS .

I have a Macrium question also. == When creating the Rescue Disk, it only gives me an option for Linux or BartPE, which it says is for Windows XP. How do I make it for Win 7?

Use the Linux boot cd.

It is Linux based - but that doesn't matter.

When you boot the cd - it loads into memory and is completely independent of the installed o/s.

You could also boot the Bartpe cd with any installed o/s - for the same reason.

The reason Macrium claims it is for XP - is because you need XP to make it in the first place.

The Linux boot CD works with Windows PCs. The only thing that matters is your hardware. Unless you have an exotic disk controller you should be ok. The way to test it is boot the Linux CD. Go into the File manager applet. You should be able to see your HD and any USB 2.0 externals you have hooked up and powered on.

The BartPE and WinPE options are for adding extra stuff like anti-virus scanners, or windows drivers for hardware the Linux boot CD can't handle.

+1 The program you get when you boot is all point and click with the mouse. You don't need to know anything about Linux to run the restore. It's menu driven.
