I have been looking at this software and it looks great so far. However when reading the documentation I notice to make a restore disk you need to purchase software. SO when using the free edition how are you managing your restore when needed?

Macrium Reflect Backup and Hard Disk Imaging for Windows 7, Vista, XP and Server 2003/2008

Macrium KB
Macrium Reflect

Install or update to the latest version of Macrium Reflect. You must have the purchased edition of Macrium Reflect installed on your PC. To check for the latest version take the 'Help' > 'Check for updates..' menu option.
Windows PE

Install or update to the latest version of Windows PE. Windows PE is only available with the purchased edition of Macrium Reflect. For information on installing Windows PE please see this knowledge base article: Macrium KB. If you already have Windows PE installed then make sure you are running the latest version by clicking the 'Updates' button in the Rescue CD burn wizard.

Do you have the free version installed from here? Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

Doing a quick read, it uses a BartPE rescue disc. It should have an option somewhere in the interface to burn the rescue disc.

I don't use Macrium myself, but they all seem to use the same type of rescue disc.

From a sticky in the support forum:

"[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetic]The Reflect Rescue CD uses version 2.6 of the Linux kernel. This release of the kernel has full support for USB and fire wire external disk drives as well as a huge range of network cards and input devices.

Should you find a particular device is not working then please post as much information as you can regarding make, model and serial number and we will try and update the Rescue CD to accommodate."

From the Reflect help file (which is in the Macrium folder in your Start menu),

reflectrescuecd.PNG

I use a CD-RW for it, and just overwite the old one when they update the program/rescue disk.

Thanks guys for the input. I have not installed it I just wanted to check on this issue before I went all the way. I now see that doing linux based boot cd would work ok. I missed that in the documentation :D
