Solved Macrium Reflect Updates

Quite often I open up the Macrium program and see that there are updates. I don't feel I need to make a new Restore Disk everytime there is an update. Eventually I need to make a new one. How do I know when to make a new Restore Disk? Thanks,

Hi,

I think they always advise to do that as a precaution, and that's what I do. It only takes a minute or so to create an ISO, which I then write to CD/USB at a later stage.

If you read the notes that appear on screen with every update, you will see which ones affect the restore disks.

Hiya Golden.

With Macrium, I just copy the new version files into my winpe.wim



I am using a new free imager atm it seems pretty good

AOMEI Data Backuper ? free disk imaging and cloning software, backup and recovery for your computer.

Makes winpe media (x64 or x86 depending on your installed archtecture ) without WAIK/WADK.

It is similar to the method I used in my little macrium pe making app I posted a while back.

Great Interface.

I have used it successfully a couple of times now.

Macrium updates

Hello
I too receive a lot of Macrium updates and at times the explanations are hard for me to understand.
I have been making a new cd each time and also performing a new image for my desktop and my wife's laptop.
Would you say I should continue doing this including the new image.
I have the free version and once in a while I image my system in case of trouble. I keep sensitive data on other removable media.
The image is basically for the system and all of my programs outside of the os disc.
I don't have access to the Macrium forum as I have the free version so thankfully I have been a member here.

Hi Peter,

Yes, keep doing it as you have - that way there aren't any nasty surprises should you ever need to restore an image one day.

You don't need to create a new image after an update, the previous image is still valid. It never hurts to have more than one image though, in case one fails.
