Solved Macrium Rescue Disk

Today I put my rescue disk in to see how it looked. The drive letters in Macrium are not the same letters showing in Disk Management. They are all scrambled. I made another Rescue Disk and it is that way also. If I am not making myself clear here is how they look.

Disk Management=Macrium
C: OS/Programs==E:
D: Documents=== F:
E: DVD========G:
F: OS Backup==== C:
G: Docs Backup=== D:

Anyone know why this might happen? Thanks,

I have always had the same thing as you the drive letters other than C: present differently during a restore.

I assumed it was because i switch D + E around for my own personal preference for presentation when i set my computer up after a clean install. I am picking that during a restore the letters are presented as how Windows dictated them before i changed them.

I am really not sure, this is just my take on why it happens i am sure someone will be able to give us a more technical point of view

Edit; i just re read your post & saw your OS presents as E this does not happen to me

Do you think if I go by the Drive Name rather than the letter, I would be restoring the correct drive? I would hate to restore the wrong drive to the wrong place.

Yes, go by the drive name while backing up and also the restore operation.

I haven't looked at my disk in a while. You may well be right.

It's probably a good idea that they are scrambled.

Because that forces you to look at the partition sizes to make sure that you choose the right partition when considering an image or a restore.

Not a good idea to blindly rely on drive letters when doing something like that. Sooner or later you make the wrong choice and have a disaster on your hands.

I always go by the size of the partition just to confirm that i have selected my OS to restore to.

Then when you go to select the drive that your image is on it will expand when you click on it to display your individual images, so you cant really go wrong in that part
