Hello SevenForums Community,

I have this weird problem on Windows 7 Ultimate (which could be malware or a virus). Basically I've been sending an old empty folder to the recycling bin and then clearing the recycling bin to remove it. But after a period of time (I havent put my thumb on exactly what the trend is yet) it magically reappears on my desktop. I have done a MalwareBytes scan using their most current definitions. Including a scan from MS Security Essentials but this yields no infections found. Has anyone come across this behaviour before? Has my Machine been comprimised?

What is the folder called/named that keeps re-appearing? Are there any files within it that are also "spawning"?

The folder is named Rory Music 2 and it is one which I created myself. I had removed all of its contents before deleting.

Just a stab here, but does it appear when you launch your main, music/audio program? Wondering if a program is creating it looking for files perhaps.

The only time I have had files reappearing was when I had a defrag program running in the background (PerfectDisk). Very unsettling until I discovered the reason.

The desktop is a bit peculiar. It can revert to the previous setup sometimes. Not sure why or how.

A long time ago I had the same problem with a desktop icon. Two things that worked for me. No I'm not crazy. 1. Right click on icon, send to flopy. Then format flopy. 2. Right click icon and mail it to yourself. When received delete the email. How empty folders put icons on a desk top is above my knowledge.

I have found out what was causing the issue:

I had been ripping some music off of a CD to put onto an MP3 device and set WMP to rip to this Rory Music Folder and in doing this Windows also added it as a location to my Music Locations so obviously it must had been recreating the folder because of this reason. :sarc:
