Mailwasher Equivalent?

I bought Mailwasher Pro with "all future version updates". Today I get an e-mail that my subscription for anti-spam updates will expire in 1 week.

If I buy a product with "all future version updates" that should be it, not a "back door" part of this product must be renewed annually.

I will no longer recommend Mailwasher to my friends and computer clients I support.

Is there a similar program available?

Spam assassin has received good reviews, but I simply create spam rules in Outlook and forget about it .... what email client do you use?

I'm using Outlook 2003. I like M/W as I can block unwanted messages and they just get deleted at the ISP's server and never get to the PC. Doing some searching there doesn't seem to be anything else. More research says I don't need the anti-spam addon so I'll just use M/W Pro as is. But it still was a "gotcha" as nothing was mentioned on the page that I upgraded from the M/W free version to Pro version - just the page to pay for the program.
