http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/286445-no-programs-load-main-account-system-must-shut-down-manually.html.

I am not sure if my problem is a virus, but I will leave that to be determined by your more experienced minds.
My main account will log in, and then become unresponsive after a few seconds. MalwareBytes cleaned up around 70 objects for me, among which were: Trojans, registry keys, start menu somethings (Sorry, going from memory). This cleanup did not fix my problem, and I have already tried many different fixes, as described on the linked thread.
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me!

  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post.

nmayer80,

The problem seems to be related to startup services related to network and internet access.
A service configuration, or, a missing or infected service file might be the issue causing your problems.

In addition to the reports Jacee requested, please do the following. The program will look at some services from a different angle than DDS:

Download Farbar Service Scanner

Save to the Desktop
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
  • Press: Scan
  • FSS creates a log, FSS.txt, on the Desktop.
Please provide the FSS.txt in your reply.

Darn. I sent the OP to you good people for security help and I was also curious of what would be found and you folks can't get a reply back.
My thought were, anytime Malwarebytes Anti Malware finds 70 problems there is a good chance there are more infection that are not malicious ware.
Thanks for trying to help.

Layback Bear is right, not replying was uncharacteristically rude of me. Please let me explain: I was directed to do a repair install, and hopefully will fix my problems. I couldn't download the ISO while also doing the account switching which (I think) is necessary. If the repair install doesn't work, my next step was going to be to try your suggestions. Sorry to leave you hanging, I think what you people do is great. I won't excuse my behavior, I just hope you read this so I can apologize properly. Thanks.

nmayer80,

Without actually seeing the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log, it is hard to determine what is going on with your system.

To my understanding, Malwarebytes had a 'hiccup' lately, and was reporting some false positives. Caused several clean installs that were not necessary.

If you wish, you can post the MBAM report that found the entries mentioned. It is found by clicking on the Logs tab of the main program console.

Very good point cottonball. The OP's problem started before the problem with Malwarebytes Anti Malware was widely known.

@LaybackBear,

That's kind of a longshot. We haven't seen the MBAM log, so we do not know what it removed, if anything. Sometimes the OP just runs the program and no action is taken on the entries.

nmayer80,

What kind of Laptop is this (Brand name) Dell, HP, Asus, Toshiba????

Also, let's use: ReProfiler

You can use this program when Windows no longer recognises a profile as belonging to its User.

If the account with the problem is currently in use, you need to logoff.

When you logoff, if the only account showing is yours, enable the (hidden) Administrator account as follows:
Right-click the Command Prompt and select: Run as Administrator
Type in the following command (Disregard the word: Quote):
net user administrator /active:yes
A message appears: The command completed successfully.
Logoff, and the Administrator account is now a choice.
There’s no password for this account.

Now, please download ReProfiler:
http://iwr.cc/reprofiler?ms=33

Right-click the zip file and extract it to its own folder on the Desktop.

Open the reprofiler folder, and double-click the Reprofiler application.

The program's console opens titled: Profiles in C:\Users

Please do not take any action, this is just a query to see what folder is assigned to your profile.

You can use the Snipping tool to provide a screenshot of what appears on the ReProfiler console.

Please run AdwCleaner once again, and this time use: Remove

Also, please do not forget Post #2, and the DDS reports.

Also, can post the MBAM report that found the entries mentioned earlier. It is found by clicking on the Logs tab of the MBAM program console.

Rescan with AdwCleaner and follow these instructions:
1.Right-click on adwcleaner.exe and select Run As Administrator to launch the application.
2.Click on Delete button.
3.Confirm each time with OK.
4.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile in your reply.

Then download and run DDS:

One more thing: ReProfiler doesn't seem to do anything, I don't see a window pop up or any other visual evidence of success. I unzipped it to its own folder and double clicked the ReProfiler app, I cleared it to run, but no results. Is ReProfiler important, and if so, how do I get a window which I can post here?

Did you go down, about 3/4 of the page, and click: Download ReProfiler Here
Save to the Desktop
Extract to its folder on the Desktop
Open the new ReProfiler folder
Double-click: ReProfiler (It is an Application, and size = 750KB)
After doing the above, the ReProfiler 1.0 console does not show on the Desktop?

Give it a minute, and see if it works.

ReProfiler is not a must do. It is just very easy to see User Profile issues with it.

It is not critical. There must be something blocking the program...
