Solved Make a User Administrator ?

I got a new notebook and not using win7 got off to a bad start or starts not ever using 7 before...lucky I knew to figure out backup right off just in case.
Anyway I see I'm not the administrator. I am a user. I have a name I gave it. Is there a way I can become the adminstrator and have full control ? I have all my programs on my desktop etc. I used the tuturial to turn on the administrator but found when I restarted I had two choices one the admin the other me (user). Can I moved all my info to admin mode or change my user status to full control. etc.

Hi,

You may be an Administrator already, you can check this by:

(Option Two)

Right Click Computer >> Select Manage - You get a screen like below, click Local Users and Groups:


Now double click 'Users'


Now double click 'Administrators'


Is your username listed there?

Hello Truckinguy,

I think that you may be confusing the built-in Administrator account compared to your default adminstrator account created during the installation of Windows 7.

You could also open the Control Panel (icons view), click on User Accounts, and check to see if you see Administrator under you user name.

I checked both and I'm listed in them as administrator. thanks that was simple enough.
