Make notification area icons Single Click?

Hey all. Anyone know of a way to make the notification area icons single click? You already have to click once to get them to show and it's a natch to have them then be single click. Something about having to double click on a popup menu that just seems awkward....

Apps tend to be compliant with guideleines. I do not believe that there is a setting to override this. There are numerous application that can emulate the behavior you want though.
