Hi Everyone, I have just joined today so I may be posting this in the wrong place, please tell me if that is so. Just had new laptop for my son and tried to make a backup image to an external drive. All went OK and I then made a system repair disc after that, what I cannot understand is that the image took about 26GB of space yet when I went to the folder it seems to be 4KB in size. Have I done something wrong or is the 26GB just not visible. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.:D

I've used Macrium Relfect Free and it's easy to use. EaseUs todobackup is also free and works well. I like it as it can backup server OS's as well as desktop clients.

I use it frequently with success.

Be sure to create the bootable recovery disk that is an option somewhere along the installation routine. Using the free Macrium Reflect you will have to have it to restore from an image.

OK , just to let you all know I installed Macrium, made a recovery disc and checked it worked, then made a backup and it looks fine. Once again thanks to all, I will return with some more basic questions as I roam around this new system, which I must say seems to be pretty impressive when you compare it to the last offering. Thanks again.:D;)
