Making an old laptop run smoother like with newer CPUs?

Hello,

I have an old laptop, with an Intel Pentium T4400, and this machine is used mainly for web surfing and minimal stuff like that. But what's annoying is that it's not running as smooth as for example my new machine with core i5. Is there a way to make it run smoother / faster? like over clocking it a bit so it will be safe? or any other tweaks?

*When I say smooth I don't mean like running heavy applications, I am talking about: for example that the mouse movement on desktop will be smoother etc.

It has 3GB RAM as well. Intel GMA graphics or something like that :)

Thanks!

Dor a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with the Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit that you already have.

If you follow it properly (Specially the step 12) it will give you the maximum performance that is possible with your computer.

Overclocking makes the games etc run faster, but it does not have a very positive bearing on jobs like mouse movement. It depends on the mouse. USB mouse works smoother than PS/2, a little bit.

Defreagment the hard drive a few times, run disk cleanup.

You have an i3 and 4 GB ram, there`s no reason it should be slow.
