Hello,

I am trying to run an older version of national geographc magazine designed for a windows 3.1 operating system.

The system requirements for the software are:
processor 80486DX 33MHz
Windows 95 or 3.1
8 MB RAM

Is it possible to get this program to run on a windows & opperating system? We are running 7 home premium edition.

When we try and run the software it gives the following message:
"The version oif this file is not compatible with the version of windows that you are running.Check your computer's system information to see wheather you need and x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Racooper, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if you may be able to run the program using compatibility mode with Windows 95 selected. If not, then you just may not be able to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I run windows 3.1 under microsoft virtual PC. You could check out virtual pc or there are a couple of other
virtual programs that will allow you to install dos and windows 3.1

other than that, It probably won't work under compability mode.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
It may be possible to install Linux and use Wine windows emulator. If you know someone with Linux see if they will try it under Wine for you before to go to the trouble of installing Linux yourself. I remember back in my 486 days I had Linux and couldn't find a news reader as nice as Agent. So I messed with it until I got it to work under Wine.
