Making program fullscreen opens in wrong display

I'm using the ALT+ENTER keyboard shortcut to make an application become fullscreen. When windowed, the application is on my secondary display (a TV connected using HDMI), but when fullscreen, it's on the main display (my PC monitor).

Is there any way of forcing the program to go fullscreen on the display it's currently on, or to a specific display?

It should always open on the screen you had it on last. Drag it to whatever display you want to view it on and close it, it should always open on that display. At least until you disconnect that display.

Yeah, that works for most programs, but doesn't for this one. It's possibly because I don't run the program directly - I start a launcher that then runs the program, and I can't change the default display of that launcher.

Either way, I don't think that should be an issue. I've started many windowed games from Steam that start on my primary display. I move it to the secondary display and ALT+ENTER, and it goes full screen on the current display. This is the first time it's not worked.

Hold down the windows key and hit the right (or left depending on the monitor setup) arrow on the keyboard. You might have to hit it twice or 3 times depending on the screen resolution.

That allows me to move from screen to screen when windowed - doesn't seem to do anything when in fullscreen.

Are you talking about a game (you mentioned launcher)?

Some games are impossible to play full screen on secondary display. I'm not a gamer, only playing occasionally The Sims and Sim City but for instance both of these can only be played full screen on primary display.

As far as I have understood also for instance Steam only accepts primary display for full screen (not sure about this but I've understood it to be so).

Yes actually, it is a game. I've launched games similarly from Steam in the past and it's always worked fine - this was the first time it would only work on the primary display.

Guess I've just been lucky with my games so far. Shame, it's so much more effort reconfiguring my monitors just for one game.
