making the bridge between Win7 and WinXP-mode permanent

I installed WinXP-mode to regain the use of a scanner for which there are no Win7 drivers; and then I found I could continue using Outlook Express as my email client. I also discovered that dragging items from one desktop to another is NOT possible; BUT from WinXP, I can 'look into' the Win7 system. So I created a folder in the root of Win7 as a 'clearing house' for file exchange between Win7 and WinXP. For convenience, I put a shortcut to that folder on the WinXP desktop. Sad to say, its viability lasts only for the session. When the Win7 PC shuts down, the link to that shortcut is broken. Is there a way to make it permanent ?

I don't know if this solution would suit your needs, but I have solved this issue by relocating XP Mode My documents folder to host system. This lets me access XP Mode documents even when XP Mode is not running. Also vice versa; if I save files on host in this folder, they are available to XP Mode next time I run it.

It's a very interesting suggestion and MAY do what I want - but there is a sting in the tail. An unsolicited filling up of WinXP's My Documents with links to Win7's desktop occurred. I MAY have to live with that, but certainly do not WANT it.
A second (more careful) attempt placed a copy of the contents of WinXP's My Documents into a newly created folder on WinXP's desktop - that is not linkage between Win7 & WinXP.
Despite my whinges above, I have managed to do it. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. The linkage survives closing of V.P.C. !
