Malewarebytes Discovery

I was researching different antispyware programs because, even though I purchased a lifetime subscription for Super Antispyware Pro about 4 years ago, as a recommendation from someone else, all the reviews I see on it are very low!

I wanted to see what else was out there and Malewarebytes always gets mentioned and recommended.

Every review I've come across gives a higher rating to the FREE version as opposed to the PAID versions, which I found very interesting. :shock:

I will download and install today!!

I have no problems with Super Anti Spyware but I do have to run it in Safe Mode sometimes to find everything. It find tracking cookies when nothing else does. I have use Malware Anti Malware free for years and I do suggest using it. I like it so much I bought the Pro version. MAM and SAS work well with MSE.

MBAM will run in real time with most AV's it is designed that way.

I run MAM and MSE at the same time active. I don't have SAS Pro to be able to run it active. I do run updates and scans with SAS while MSE and MAM are active with no problems. These 3 programs seem to get along with each other.

Thanks Bear. I have a license for both, so I am going to do real time with all 3 and see how it works.

SAS has improved with version 5. The scans are faster now, especially the new critical point scan. I also use MBAM, Hitman Pro and TDSSkiller. I wouldn't want to rely on any one of them exclusively. I only use them "on demand" though and have a "suite" for real time protection. What do you use for AV?

Your welcome Jack. If you haven't already checkout the new Webroot SecureAnywhere product which is designed to work along side other AV. It's the next generation of Prevx and has good detection scores with minimal impact on resources.

Webroot finished first or second in every review I saw!! I will check it out. Although I have already paid for SAS Pro and MBE Pro.

I've never heard or seen anything about this. What is the nature of the complaints about the paid version?

Hi,

I agree with ignatz.

The only difference between the FREE and PAID version of Malwarebyes is residency, automatic updates, a scheduler, and a malicious IP blocker. The scanning engine, and the ability to detect and remove malware, is exactly the same in both versions.

I run MBAM and SAS (free editions) smoothly with MSE & Comodo Internet Security.

It finds stuff which MBAM and MSE doesn't.

It is a good piece of security.

Most of the users from SevenForums recommend it a lot of the time.

Malwarebytes is an excellent program and I use its free version regularly. However the point is that how many times have you been beset with malware since you started using Super Antispyware Pro.

If the answer is never then in my opinion Super Antispyware Pro is doing a good job and there is no need to install a multitude of Anti-Malware programs.

Different antimalware programs, like different AV programs, will find or miss things the other might not. I always think it's good to have at least a 2nd opinion. Will it be overkill? Possibly, but if it causes no problems, it is good peace of mind IMHO. A Guy

I call using a few programs as layered protection. It's like having 3 locked doors before someone can get into the house and each door having a different locks. If you computer works properly with extra protection I not use it.
