Malware As Firefox Extensions

One of the first things many people do to try and avoid security problems on Windows is to switch users to Firefox. It's true that Internet Explorer is a big fat target and probably the exclusive target of most browser-oriented malware, but that's not the whole story. Much drive-by malware works the same in any browser, relying as it does on social engineering and pushing EXEs and PDFs. Now it seems, according to Symantec, that malware specifically targeting Firefox is on the rise.

It's hardly surprising, all considered.

The a$$wipe$ who write these programs need to be themselves wiped out

What this only further illustrates is that there is no such thing as a 100% safe browser. With FF having grown in popularity the browser simply became a new avenue to spread "bugs" of various types.

Presently I'm looking another browser by Mozilla called "Flock" to see how things are with that one. The latest 2.5 version will be given a look on the retail 7 as well as the one remaining 7 RC install still on at present to make a comparison.
