Got a 64bit HP Pavilion p6000.
Didn't make any recovery disks. Stupid. I know.
I will, if I can get back in the game again.

Did a brief search but can't make hide nor hair of what I'm reading. Not even sure if some of these instructions apply to me. I want to wipe clean everything and start again.

Not a techie so please, if you can, limit the techie talk as much as possible please and speak as if I was slightly 'challenged'...if you know what I mean. Cuz I likely am in comparison to you whiz kids.

Am backing up folders onto an external HD now.
Please instruct...

EDIT:
Oops, this may be better in "Back Up & Restore" Section.
I'm using this in Safe Mode and it makes it a little hard to see!

Sorry.

Your computer may have a hidden recovery partition that can be used to return your machine to factory specifications just like it was the day you bought it. That means if it originally came with Vista (for example) that's what you'll have on it again. According to HP:

The system can be restored to factory settings through this partition by pressing F10 or F11 repeatedly while the PC is booting. NOTE: If any of the hard drive partitions has been modified or aditional partitions have been created, it is possible that the recovery system cannot boot or the recovery discs cannot be created.

A second possibility is to use a Windows 7 installation DVD and do what's known as a clean install. This installs the operating system on your machine without all the factory bloatware that was included by HP.
