I updated one PC (MBAM Pro) using MBAM Auto Update, and no problems here.
A reboot is required.

Hiyya David thanks mate - mine tells me auto when I go to scan as I ticked the box when I downloaded the app first time for them to let me know when there is a new version available.

Hi ICit2lol,

I also have checked "Download and install program update if available".
I'm not sure if you will get a Program Update notification if this is not checked.

I did get a notification before it updated the Program Version...so i'm ok with this.

I normally log in with a Standard Account, and "Manual Updates" doesn't work when i run MBAM with that account.
And, I didn't get the "New Version" notification with the Standard account.

When i run MBAM with "Run as administrator" i can do manual updates, and that is when i got the "New Version notification" this morning.

Do you have MBAM Pro, and log in Windows with a Standard Account?

No David I just have the free MBAM as the full version plays silly devils with my Kaspersky or rather Kaspersky doesn't like it playing in it's backyard.

Even so I have to set the Scanner settings to not scan filesystem objects for the same reason.

I originally had the full MBAM on before I converted to KIS, but wouldn't want to be without the MBAM.

They do have instructions for setting up exclusions with most AV programs to avoid conflicts...
I don't see KIS + MBAM...

I have the free Mbam.

As David posted above I right clicked and selected Run as Admin. then ran the manual updater.
Follow all the prompts until done.
No restart was needed.

It's good to know before i help someone remotely that is using the free version !
All my OS's have Pro...maybe i should downgrade one to free so i would know this :shock:

Mbam window stayed open and updated the software.
It then updated the malware base and I then ran a scan.

It evidently is just a program update not a totally new version for the "Free".
There are extra tools with the paid version and that may be the difference. Maybe???

Yea, i think PRO works different.

I just tried again on another system, and can't update when logged in with a Standard account and Right Clicking "Check for Updates" on the System Tray icon. (Access is denied)


If I "Start Scanner" from the tray icon, the "Check for updates" option is disabled...(Standard User)


This system has MBAM Pro ver 1.61


I don't have a problem with this, as i know how to get the updates - Run MBAM with "Run as administrator".

Just weird...and interesting that you can update the Free version with a Standard Account.

I just updated my MAM Pro and the only thing I noticed was when the update was done the definitions were out of date by 9 days. I just updated them before install 1.62. It didn't seam to cause a problem. I accepted to install the updates. Going through the settings in MAM I had to set it back to Active again.

No mate I just found this out via a fellow who works on the configs for KIS and just go with that. Plus I have tried the full and without that setting I mentioned and there were "things" going on then.

Hey but I just run it as I do and mate have never had any problems so while it's like that I leave well enough alone - if it's not broken.......

MBAM in my mind is just one heck of a nice app to be honest and look I wasn't trying to be smart or have a go at you or anyone else I just wasn't aware that you were running it as you are

As a matter of fact the machines I fix I always run MBAM through them and it always picks up a ton of malware as most of my friends and work colleagues are not particularly careful with what they do on line. I find those who muck around in iTunes and Apple stuff are the worst and of course those who just let their security lapse - thats why I always set them up with a free suite namely Comodo Premium - and MBAM because they are careless or more often than not cannot afford the paid for security.
I am an RN and can afford paid for but most of my colleagues are poorly paid Enrolled Nurses or the domestic staff, hence a good part of the problem.

I apologize if i said something to make you think that, it was not my intent.

I just wanted to point out MBAM has exclusion instructions in case you were not aware of it and want to use MBAM Pro.
I'm really very surprised they do not have instructions for Kaspersky exclusions in their FAQ...

I just did a search and found an MBAM forum thread with exclusion instructions for Kaspersky + MBAM.

Hum David that forum reply was informative I would never have thought of setting KIS with an exclusion.

Mind you the fellow who said it was slowing his machine down I think he has probably got a heap of other stuff on in startup as my machines (4) are all sub 50sec boots in fact the one I just rebuilt for my brother is sub 40 secs and it has a dual core AMD Athlon and beats my Sandy Bridge i5 2500!

Oh they are all running SSD's of course so all being equal in that respect.

I don't understand some folks who complain about slowing the boot - unless it is into the minutes as most ISS's in my limited experience by the very nature of the beast has to load quite a bit of info and update eh? The alternative is far worse in any case.
