Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - throw firewall

Evening folks, I installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and now trying to update the codes. I keep getting an error well trying to do so. I know it's the firewall and have selected the program to run threw the firewall but still just the error. Scans and all work so it must be a firewall setting. It's the latest version and I'm using home edition 7600 on Win 7. Thanks for any help.

Can I know what Firewall are you using is it just the Windows Firewall or any other application ??

Sorry, It's the Win 7 one that's built in.

If it wouldn't let you update before modifying Windows Firewall at all, then it's most likely not the firewall. Never had Windows Firewall block malwarebytes updates. Try rebooting and then try and update it again. Might also try disabling your network adapter, then enabling it again.

Do you have any other Antivirus program running in the background when you're trying to update it? If so, what is it? Tried turning that off to see if it goes thru?

You could add Malware Bytes to Windows Firewall List
Followed the Below Tutorial to add to Windows Firewall Exception List

Files to be added

Go To C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\
Add the following EXE files

mbam.exe, mbam.exe, mbam-dor.exe, mbamgui.exe, mbamservice.exe

2,
Go To C:\Windows\System32\Drivers there - mbam.sys, mbamswissarmy.sys
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - rules.ref

Note: By default it only allows .EXE files to be added to the list so you will need to type in *.ref or *.* and hit the Enter key on your keyboard to see the .ref and .sys file types.

To see the ProgramData folder Go To Start Search Type Folder Options Go To View Tab and check on Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives

tried both and still a no go... this is what i have... and thanks for the help folks..

just a added a note.. was using spysweeper with no problems. I deleted it completely a few days a go and started using MSE but wanted to add Malware Byte.. I'm also on dialup with no network..

Thanks folks, I have it working now, had to hit Start Run and added this line.

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Hope this may help the next person.
