Malwarebytes found some things, now what?

I've just run malwarebytes and it found 34 Spyware.OnlineGames. They are quarantined but what should I do now? If I delete them will it have any negative effects on the computer? What the hell is Spyware.OnlineGames? I do play games on this computer and I have downloaded Half Life 2: Lost Coast off of Steam. I have Comodo Internet Security Premium but it didn't find all these spyware. Why is that?

Those are probably cookies from Internet Explorer / Mozilla. Someone must have run some browser based games. Just delete them from malwarebytes. I'm pretty much sure its not from Steam because malwarebytes will know its a legitimate gaming site.

Just leave them in quarantine and see if any of your games are affected.

I use FireFox. I'm the only one that uses this computer and I'm pretty sure I haven't played any browser based games, I may have done 1 some months back but I can't remember for sure. I did use that game program that comes on Win 7 based computers now, the one that has Plants vs Zombies, bejewled, etc. Don't use it anymore, but it's still installed on the computer. Other than that program I have games that I installed myself, like the Orange Box (Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, the Lost Coast, and Portal), BattleField 2142, and World of Warcraft.

Cookies can & will stay in your system for a LONG time unless you set your software/browser to delete them. It's not unusual for me to be repairing someones PC and I find hundreds of cookies. Most have an expiration date that's 10 or more years down the road. And even if you never specifically went to a game site, that doesn't mean a site or two you visited didn't put them on there.

If you want to be sure (and a security scan never hurts), d/l and run Microsoft Safety Scanner & do a full system scan.

For Firefox, you may want to consider using some kind of a cookie manger, such as Cookie Monster. It would also be a good idea to add NoScript and Adblock Plus. All these are available at the Mozilla website and will help keep cookies, as well as some malicious files off your system.

Another option would be to visit the Malwarebytes Forums and see if someone else is having the same issue as you, or to sign up over there - some of the Malwarebytes team people log into the forums and help users, and there's also a False Positives section over there.

Using a virtual app like Shadow Defender or Sandboxie while on line would eliminate the problem from re-occurring. My Daughter's kids did on line games and got infected with trojans to the point I had to re-install Windows. I installed Shadow Defender and instructed them to enable it before they went on line, and it's been over a year and no malware. I see where you say you aren't doing on line games, but maybe it's another type of site. Either way the above works.

I agree. Then, in the event your games are affected, follow the advice of PallasAthene and provide detailed information at the MBAM forums.
