How come I can't get malwarebytes to show up in my explorer context menu like it's supposed to be? The box is checked in mbam and I rechecked it but it's still not showing up. Does anybody with mbam have it in theirs?

Are you trying it inside "libraries"? have you tried it in a file outside? e.g. on desktop? Winrar does the same....but works outside libraries.

I don't get it for anything in the context menu anymore like it was and should be. I just downloaded the mbam program update too and it still doesn't show up.

Works for me. I get the option of scanning in the context menu. Maybe you didn't select the option during install. Just my guess.

No, I have it selected and have unchecked and rechecked it. It's checked by default. It was there before, I don't get it.

You're trying to get a 32bit program to show extensions in a 64bit Explorer window....

Think about it.... :p

Also, see Vista 64 bit - Malwarebytes Forum

This applies only to the registered (read: paid and / or beta tester) version of MBAM....

But your Explorer integration also applies to 64bit versus 32bit.

For example, if you installed a 32bit file manager, such as xplorer2 lite 32bit, you'd see the extension there.

I know - main reason I was poking fun at you is because I ran into much the same thing (almost verbatim, in fact) when I ran a 64bit OS for the very first time - last May....

So, I was having my fun cause *finally* someone else had done the same.

Look at it this way- you've just joined an elite club that includes you, me, and (I'll bet) a few others from here as well....

I have the same issue. But the answer here confuses me. If you don't see 32-bit programs in 64-bit explorer then why do I see menus for Open Office programs. They work too.

I would love to find the answer. I'd like to be able to scan individual files with MBAM.

I've read the context menu tutorials and tried a few variations. One provides some text to add to a notepad document and swap out the .png for your application extension. But the reg files that add context menu items have much more code than that suggestion.

Here's how to integrate Malwarebytes into context menu

Here's how to do it. You'll be placing it in the "send to" of the context menu. 64-bit systems don't have context menu integration for Malwarebytes. Open explorer and type in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo in the top bar. Now drag Malwarebytes into the window and it will from that point on show up in your "send to" menu. It's not as good as full integration but hey, it gets the job done ;)

BIOS- Insyde 1.40
Thanks for that tip! It never ceases to amaze me how willing some of us are to experiment and find these gems.

When "sending to" MBAM through this path, the log does not report what was scanned. The log created when using MBAM through the start menu or regular shortcut reports what was scanned.

Haven't figured out why yet.

Good news for 64-bit systems. I was just getting ready to create the "Send to" trick but didn't have to. MBAM version 1.42 now works in 64-bit explorer.

I like to check the log and that is now correctly available.
