I was able to get the description to stay up long enough this time to see that replaced with the full NoActiveDesktopChanges value seen in full. Anything like that can simply be removed or simply highlighted where you can also modify the "1" value = turned on to "0"= turned off meaning the feature is no longer blocked.

It's a normal explorer window...

Or does the popup include a "description" of what the actual key does?

I had the regedit maxed out to full screen there and still had to hover the cursor over it to see the popup appear. The length of the text is why you see that abbreviated often with the number of characters exceeding what Windows will display.

The "NoActiveDesktop" seen in full is 15 characters while the "NoActiveDesktopChanges" is 22 going over the maximum. You'll see that quite a bit in there. The 15 character limit sees that all the time as you can see from simply creating the same NoActiveDesktop entry twice with the second seeing one more character(1) being added onto it.



Once you back away from it by moving the cursor somewhere else the same two entries I made there appear as...

Where the column header says "Type". You'll see the little black double arrow between the "Type" and the "Name" column.

Don't forget this is the system registry now now the usual view settings are available in there for file types, dates, name, size, etc.. You are strictly looking at the hives, keys, sub keys, dword, string, and other values. The viewing is simply setup to be familiar as you would expect when browsing through folders and sub folders for commonality there.

Just like I showed in my 2 screen shots - it is a normal explorer type window, and the column widths can be individually changed. SqdnGuns also marked the same place where you place your mouse in order to change the column widths.

All that is present but without the large space seen stretching out across the screen if you look a little closer! Watch!

Again - go to *exactly* where both Sqd and I circled - at the very top right next to the word *Type*, and move the move until it hovers over that faint vertical line to the left of the word type - that is your column border, and it is where you widen or narrow your columns. You need to widen the Name column.

BTW, this is standard Windows control behavior since the file manager was introduced in Windows 3.x....

you see the first picture, how the two NoDesktop entries are partially covered up?






Click and drag the spacer seperator between Name and Type at the top, which the little black double arrow will appear when you hover over the top spacer.

Then it will look like this, with the full names of the entries showing.

That's simply a matter of setting the view.

Not really. There's no reason to change the column to be that large. It just needs to be enough so that you can read everything in it.

You don't need to double click it - as you can see in my screen shots, I only move the column just wide enough to show what was being displayed in the screen, and that is *far* from my 1680 x 1050 resolution.

My point in all of this was that initially all you had to do was widen the column just a bit and you'd have seen that those were in fact 2 different keys. Same with file names if you go looking in a directory in Windows Explorer....

Well when simply bringing the cursor up tp the "type" or "data" catagory heading seen on the bar you can easily spread each column out further or tuck it in closer without a need to go upto the view item and bring out the vertical indicator line. For a fast edit while the regedit window is minimized that comes in handy to have all items in view.

The problem here is I may have several things going at the same time where things need to be compacted down a little bit in order to fit into the desktop. busy busy busy!
