Does Malwarebytes Really Work? Or Is It Just A Scam? Should I Have It On My Computer? I Would Like To Have Extra Security. Thanks.

Malwarebytes does work. But it isn't something that scans as you use your computer. Its only a scanner you can run periodically. Unless of course you purchase the paid version for like $20. But yes its a good application. You may get false and true information regarding it as alot of us have our own opinions.

Best way to actually protect your system is Using Golden's advice.

1. A good NAT router
2. Firewall
3. "Anti-virus" software
4. "Anti-malware" software

EDIT: You can also use a program called Peerblock to block specific known ip addresses of many different things. Highly Recommended What it does is allows you to control who your computer talks to.

Hah! You call it scam?! No offense but you should probably take this word back.
Its a top-notch security program, recommended by security experts all over the globe.
They've their own forum. Have you seen any scam which have their forum running?
Works perfectly along side other antiviruses and the pro version is even more effective blocking malicious files and sites.

Yes, I Do Have A Vendor Firewall From A Really Good Anti-Virus
And The Anti-Virus Software Is Norton Security Suite.

I'm Not Sure What Kind Of Security My Router Would Be Though.

Linksys is the best heh Just my opinion i dont know much about the netgear routers, but linksys has some DD-wrt gives lots more options allows you to tweak your signal strength etc.

Agree too many bash Malwarebytes it is actually a really good program

They sometimes release more definition updates per day than MS do for their MSE. It's a nice little on demand scanner, quick on the full scan too.

I at one time used ZoneAlarm for my firewall but it was giving me problems. I then tried another but don't remember which one it was, but I removed that one and now rely on the firewall in Windows 7.

Zone alarm sometimes runs rough in Windows 7, there is a hotfix that seems to have fixed that issue. I was getting BSOD due to zone alarm. Applied the hotfix and thus far all is well.

And the fix may or may not work for you. Its been about 3 days now since i applied it and so far zone alarm isnt saying its stuck on Initializing and no BSOD. But i would definately give it a shot

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or MBAM is not a scam. It's a popular anti-malware program, best known for its shuriken heuristics and very good detection rates (it catches malware in which other security software does not). MBAM has a paid and free version, the paid version uses automatic updating (of the virus signature database), has a website/IP blocker and protects your PC in real-time by default which obviously increases your PC's security. The free version is the same as the paid but it does not run in the background and does not protect your computer in real-time. If you have the free version, you'll have to run it as if it's a normal program, update it manually and scan.

MBAM also runs very smoothly on Win 7. I have never seen a BSOD caused by MBAM. I cannot say that about most other third party anti-malware programs.
