Manually powered off during updates... now BSOD at startup

Hi, this is a different computer to my one in the MRL forum.

I manually powered my computer off during updates and now each time I run it, it goes to startup repair and cannot fix the error.

I selected 'disable automatic restart on system error' and this time, instead of going to startup repair, a BSOD appeared with the error STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}

I have tried last known good configuration... didn't help.. safe mode didn't help either.

When I select a restore point and try to restore it, it says that system protection needs to be enabled.

Do you have a good backup of your system? I think your best bet is to restore the latest backup.

A clean install would be the next best thing. If you do a clean install, you'll need to reinstall all of your software. Do you have the install media and install keys/codes available so as to be able to reinstall all of your software? As far as that goes, do you have your Windows media and your install key for Windows?

You could do a factory reinstall, if you have those disks. Or, if you can boot into Safe mode, then you could probably launch a factory reinstall from there, if that functionality is available in your computer.

You could do a repair install. I've never done one, but I believe that would fix this for you.

In all of these cases, I suggest that you back up your hard drive before proceeding. To do that, you may need to install it in another computer. Or if you have your backup program's emergency boot disk, you could do the backup without removing the drive from this computer.
