Yikes, I thought I already uninstalled MyWinlocker.. I found and deleted a few more folders for it, now I can't find any more signs of it in folders or in control panel (as I attempted an uninstall before). Searching for it produces some WelcomeCentre results but the specific MyWinlocker/Egistech folders are gone, I think.. Should this be okay?

For the driver, I had used the "automatically detect and install" function which said it updated fine. I'm not sure how to update a certain specific driver without using that?

Yeah using the "automatically detect and install" is fine.

To update any future drivers, you can either go directly to the OEM website
or you can try updating drivers from :ar: Device Manager
(also if you scroll down the page there are many tutorials on this)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See if Revo picks up any left over entries for Mywinlocker:

Download and install Revo Uninstaller free from here:
:ar: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

Then see if your BSOD'S have stopped?

STOP 0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Having re-read the thread I see you stated you had issues updating away from the Automatic detection,
so here is the direct link to the driver you need to install:

Download

Please install the Driver only, as in this guide:
:ar: http://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-tips-tricks/668-ati-video-cards-driver-only-installation-procedure.html

This bugcheck also indicates a problem occurred in ntfs.sys, the driver file that allows the system
to read and write to NTFS drives. One possible cause of this bug check is disk corruption.

Please Re-run :ar: chkdsk

Also run a HDD test for your drives manufacturer:

:ar: http://carrona.org/hddiag.html

Post back any results.

cheers
Dave

Okay.. in regards to the driver, I followed those instructions and tried to install the driver. However as it finished it said something like "windows has detected your drivers are already up to date". According to the instructions I should've then uninstalled my previously installed AMD stuff, so I did that. Then I tried to install the driver you gave me again, but at the end, it again said the drivers were already up to date- with ATI Radeon HD 4350 (even though I had just uninstalled some?!). I looked in control panel to try and uninstall this as well but I already got rid of the AMD Catalyst Install Manager and I can't find anything else similar. In addition, in uninstalling the AMD stuff, it uninstalled the AMD chipset drivers, and according to the instuctions I need to reinstall those, but I'm not sure how. =_= Sorry.. I am following the instructions carefully but I don't know why it's not working, I do know my drivers really shouldn't be up to date according to the BSOD info.

Also ran chkdsk again and as before got some BSODs and failed repair attempts upon restarting. But I guess I'll need to install this driver correctly before it may improve.

Hi,

Are you able to do a :ar: System Restore back to before the AMD chipset driver got uninstalled?

Then if successfully restored, forget the driver for now and run the HDD tests.

cheers
