So, I'm connected to my college network via VPN and would like to map a network drive. When I try to access the share on the network form 'RUN', it sure does ask me the username/password credentials, but I understand the domain is the problem here.
The domain it's trying to use is apparently wrong and I'm not able to change it. Any ideas? The domain it's giving is
Domain : <Windows 7 system username>-PC

Which is not what I want. I'm not able to change it as well :(

EDIT:

Oh nevermind, I just gave the domain name as part of the username and it worked!
For example : username : Campus\userid

So you tried and put in domain name\userid and it still won't accept it?

If that the case, i think it's your credentials or the share isn't shared probably.

Seriously?! You figured it out, and simply posted "Figured it out" instead of an answer!!?

YAY! THANKS!?

I have NOT figured it out, so if you would be so kind as to inlighten the rest of us what you did we would appreciate it!

Finally found the solution

So it took me a while to figure out why I could not connect to my Seagate External Hard drive connected to my Linksys E3000 router. I had to log in with the Domain as the Router Name (e.g MyRouter/admin)

So what did you do?
DOMAIN\USERNAME
It was pretty clear to me that "domain\username" is what was figured out.
