I have a linux server and several windows clients (running various win versions).
The server provides a shared folder via samba.
The clients map the shared folder as H: and run an app from there (H:\MyApp\MyApp.exe). This has been working flawlessly for about 10 years.
One client recently died and I had to temporarily replace it with an older Win 7 laptop.
On this laptop, I am also able to map shared folder as H: and browse it. But I am unable to run H:\MyApp\MyApp.exe. Nothing happens when I double-click the program icon. No error message, nothing.
However, when I open Command Prompt and run H:\MyApp\MyApp.exe from there, it works fine.
Any idea why this is happening and what should I do to run the app directly, without the cmd workaround?
Thanks!
