mapped network drives without drive letters

I have the problem of a long list of redundant mapped network drives without drive letters, for example, documents, documents~1, documents~2, etc. all with same location...right clicking on the mapped does not present any "disconnect" option. Oh, they do not appear as mapped network drives under "My Computer," but under "Network" and the name of the computer (which is on a wireless network with another computer)...I can go to advanced sharing and stop sharing, but then all folders are unshared including the original...I guess this may be the only way of getting this corrected, but it seems like a long way to do something that should be very simple...If anyone knows a quick better way, I would appreciate knowing of it.

Unsharing those is going to be the only way to get that to go away, I'm afraid, and that's something you have to do folder-by-folder.

You aren't in a work-environment, are you? If so those folders may have been intentionally shared by your IT department/employer (just food for thought).

I worked for a multinational insurance company with offices all over the world and U.S. Our server room was larger than the ones at the major universities in the area. Still, typical of businesses, they are years from running 7. Most of their machines run 2000. Some are beginning to run XP. They are still for the most part running Office 2000. A few demanding users have gotten Office 2003 and are still fighting with the 64K line limitation of Excel. Businesses are the WORST at getting onboard with new software. Our company prefers to spend 5 M to develop their own software then shelve it when it "fails gracefully." Anyway, it would have been a hoot if I disconnected network drives at work...I'd probably have been fired.

That's why I was asking. I didn't want you to lose your job on my account.

Sorry I have no better solution, but I'm afraid you've stumbled into one of the few situations where the ability to unmap all drives would be helpful.

open a command prompt (even better if you use an elevated one Start>Programs>accessories> right click on command prompt run as admin)
type net use * /delete

I have found this pretty well cleans the plate
