Mapping a network drive slow response question

When I try to map a network drive from my Windows 7 Ultimate machine, which is in a workgroup, it takes some time to prompt me for credentials.

So in the search dialogue box, I type in something like \\192.168.1.10\c$ About two to three minutes later I get the credential prompt.

Doing this same thing from a Windows XP machine is immediate.

If I map a network drive inside Computer using the map network drive button, filling in the required fields, choosing to connect using different credentials, it is all immediate. So it seems isolated to mapping a drive using the search dialogue.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Well, I'm not sure what causes it, but I seem to have the same problem. Takes a couple minutes, sometimes just to tell me I messed up and it couldn't connect. Would be very excited if anyone else here has figured out what's going on!
