Hello everyone. I'm currently on Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit, and every time I click "Play" in the Mass Effect 1 Launcher, MassEffect.exe crashes.

Now, I have Mass Effect 2 and it runs just fine.

I've tried everything from re-installing, to running as administrator, to running in compatibility mode, etc.

Could someone please help me fix this? I really want to finish the first one before I start the second one.

Thanks. :zip:

The untouched version of ME will do this under Win7 on some machines.

However, there is a fix.

Mass Effect Community - Game Information
Mass Effect Configuration Utility

  • fixed a crash running on certain multi-core AMD systems
  • fixed an issue where video RAM was not being reported properly on certain cards
It says AMD, but I can confirm the unpatched version will do this on some Intel machines as well under Win7
This patch resolves the issues.

And if you havent registered for it:
Mass Effect Community - Bring Down the Sky - new downloadable content on your PC
Grab the DLC first & then apply the 1.02 patch.

Hope this helps & enjoy the game.

ME1 is a excellent game.

I think I've already tried the patch and still had the problem, but I will re-install and give it a try then get back to you with the results.

Appreciate the help.
