McAfee not compatible with W7?

Hello,

I just installed my Windows 7 completely, but when I tried installing my Mcaffee ANTIVIRUS, I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE. Pls help.

I used to have McAfee Virus Scan Plus on my Windows 7 32-bit.
And it runned without problems.
So, as Tews already asked which McAfee product and version are you trying to install?

Im using windows 7 HP 64 bit. I have Mcafee AntiVirus, there is not problem. It runs great.
If 64 bit is compatible, I am pretty sure that 32 bit is as well.

Remove your firewall, if any and try to install again.
I can assume that you did not try to install another A/V first and you do not have another A/V?

Was running McAfee from my initial Win7 install. It works perfectly withh Win7.
Hope the firewall is the issue or maybe you may need to "Install as Administrator"

It would be helpful if you could fill-in some hardware stats so we can see what hardware you have. Also have you upgraded to the newest McAfee? I'm not sure if you have the latest version.

Please answer all asked questions:
1. Was it clean windows 7 install or upgrade?
2. your OS is 32-bit or 64-bit?
3. Did you have AV before it?
If yes, Have you uninstalled it first?
*If yes, Have you uninstalled it with the manufacturer product removal tool?
4. What other security application are you using?
5. Were you installing with Adminstrator account?
6. What did error say? (not compatible? permission denied? what exactly did it say?)
7. Please fill in your system specs as IggyAZ asked. (here: http://www.sevenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra)

We will try to help you, but it will be easier for us, if we knew what problem exactly we are facing

Try the latest version. Mcafee 8.5 doesnt work with Win7.

ah ok, now i know, i got the old edition of Mcaffee, thanks a lot guys!

actually 8.5 and 8.5i work fine with win 7 both 32 ans 64 bit all you need to do if it is a licensed copy is hit the mcafee site and they can provide you with the patch needed in order to make 8.5 and 8.5i work. i no longer run mcaffee but friends are and its working fine. hope it helps and goodluck
