hi
why is everyone posting so much bad about mcafee,it is a very efficient virus protection and removal software along with other functions, and i will tell you why i chose mcafee: my mother is boss in a large international corporation who makes colours for plastic, the company name is Clariant,it is not so big here in denmark(where she is leader)but very big in europe in general, and they run mcafee on all their computers, and i thourgt there must be a reason for that, they got like all big firms very sencitive information stored. It is a fact that Mcafee has the highest detection rates in the world today:99.9%.And on top of that mcafee total protection can scan and remove many kinds of spyware and malware,in paticular trojans who as far as i know is the most common infection, one thing is for sure it has saved my system a number of times. As i see it,mcafee only got one downside, price, and i am no expert but it is my oppinion.
Kind Regards Asser:)

Thats lovely - as long as it does the job for Clariant, then thats good. I work for someone who probably has far more sensitive information (we produce and sell uranium yellowcake) and we use soemthing completely different. Many people here will testify to McCoffee causing lots of problems. I'll leave it up to them to post their views.

Golden

I have tried McAfee before and did not like it it slows down my computer. Start up takes forever because it has to check for updates. it's just a big hog my ISP offers it for free and I will not use it.

That's marketing talk. Show me one antivirus website advertising its product that doesn't use these exact same (or similar) words. :sarc:

You may have run into one of the reasons others dislike McAfee, or you may not have configured it properly (most antiviruses can lower their process priority or CPU usage percentage).

I honestly don't know since I'm another non-user.

Um can you let us know the sources of your info re detection rates asser as most that I have seen rate MuckAfee as fair to poor.

Mate you must be able to back up such claims like that, then you would have some credence in what you are saying.

To say it picks up 99% of malware is going out on a limb when we are constantly being told that nothing is 100% and 95% at best.

Myself I am Kaspersky through and through and that followed closely by Comodo.

So please the documentation as I said to lend credibility to your claims.

It is funny - I just dowloaded the MPCR.exe on my external drive. Next week I get a new desktop which has a 15 month free McAfee license included. But this is the first thing I will uninstall before I even connect for the first time to the internet. Reason: Past experience with the bugger.

I will install NIS2012 that I also downloaded and which works smooth like silk on my other systems.
