Measuring Usage

DPI doesn't automatically mean logging though.
Actually, DPI is a means to ensure QoS - VoIP packages should be highest priority, for example, while Torrent traffic is least important.
It's a shame though that many ISPs downshape Torrent traffic so bad it's hardly usable.

We have all sorts of rates here and none of them can compete with the USA or EUROPE.
I am on Naked Broadband 20000 Cable. With 70Gig offpeak and 50 Gig peak (peak time is 12 Midday to 12 Midnight).
Uploads are included in the totals.
When you use up your peak allowance you are throttled back to 64kbps which is absolutely useless as you can't even connect to get you emails.
When you use up your offpeak it is then taken from your peak allowance
