Medal Of Honor Open Beta (PC)

Thought I'd let everyone know that there is an open beta of Medal Of Honor for the PC. It started today (10/04/2010) and will end in 3 days (10/07/2010). No keys are required. Just download, install, and play!

I'm usually never one to get games like this. I prefer Halo. I never cared for MOH or COD. Though I'll be getting this game, something about it I like.

Its mainly to stress test their servers. Nothing more.

If it was meant for bug testing they would've made it longer. I'm sure they will fix any bugs that do occur in this beta though, so its kind of a 'kill two birds with one stone' kind of thing.

It kinda sucks...(excuse my language) the maps on the beta are small, constantly being dropped, you die if you run out of bounds, the only way to really tell your characters apart is by the little diamond like symbol above your heads, sniper scopes don't really enhance anything, and you get to be what looks like Taliban if your real lucky(joke). Other than that it may be a cool game. I think I will pass on this one if this BETA is what the game is going to be like.

Well, now I remember why is it that I almost never play MP shooters... I literally SUCK at them. :shock:

Either that or all the players just scatter on their own instead of playing as a team so you pretty much have to fend for yourself and hope that you kill more people than being killed and I just don't see the fun in that... mainly because I hate to be killed

The game seems to run smooth but it crashed to the screen after about 30 to 45 minutes of playing and I decided not to go back in.

Video quality is good for MP, movements are also good, although you can only crouch, can't go prone and I don't like that, more so if you are playing a sniper... hopefully the campaign will have that option.

Weapons look a little off, hard to explain but perhaps is because I was playing a beta on MP, something I never ever do... campaigns tend to have a much better video quality in texture than MP.

Map is extremely short, 2 farts and you are on the other side but it makes for some fun CQB shootouts. Oh, I almost forgot to mentioned that there was no Peeking options either but then again, with everyone just running & gunning, spraying everything they could and lobbing grenades... who needs to peek, right?

They've really ironed out some of the bugs/issues that plagued the closed beta a couple of months ago, but my main problem with this game is still very much present: the little to no recoil on all weapons.

That makes it very very easy to kill pretty much anything that moves. I don't understand why they just couldn't copy the weapons handling/recoil from Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

That alone is the reason why they won't get my $60.

I mean... I could have lived with the little team oriented kind of gameplay, but not with the fact that pretty much every single weapon has ZERO recoil. Very unrealistic.

To be honest, I often find myself fearing for the quality of the soundtrack instead of the game itself xD
I just love MOH soundtracks and think it was a great idea to compose them in the same orchestral style as movie soundtracks.

Ahhh crap, on both counts... did not know that either.

I usually don't get the games right away, let alone pre order so I am not to hip on the release date... just a vague idea of when they will be out and whether a demo is out or not.

One of my rule of thumbs due to Ubisoft nature of crapping on my favorite franchises is... No Demo... No Sale

i dont expect it'll matter when you buy this game it will stil be sh!t This is the worst excuse for an online shooter i have seen in years , half a mag to down an enemy , poor maps that bottleneck attackers into impossible positions (i played the closed beta thae map on that was much better but i think it'll be the only decent map in the whole game) and whats with the sound? how hard would it have been to get some realistic gunfire.................and i know having hundreds of unlocks per class can be a little ridiculous but 2?? TWO weapons per class that you can unlock after abou 4 hours of gameplay , ridiculous.and dont even get me started on hardcore mode , all thay have done is remove the crosshairs , its still half a mag for a kill!

I hope black ops will be better although from what ive seen its MW2 in differant clothes , that said MW2 wasnt a bad game and with dedicated servers it might be quite a game

I have played MOH other day, I don't like that type of game not like BC2 is far better than MOH that for sure.

I will buy MOH from Steam when the price hit around $9.99 or less.

BTW, I bought my BC2 for less $20 bucks and save $40

that was the most infuriating part of BFBC2, we played the beta for months with all the feedback and then they release the game and it's the same as the beta with all the same bugs and gliches with no changes it was just mind-boggling

I am going to take a wait and see approach to see how both MOH & Black Ops turn out before running out the door and spending 60$ on either of them or wait till they go on sale on Steam like dgwin7 says

I don't want to stereotype but I do believe consoles, being more mainstream now, have ruin the FPS games. Then again, from a commercial point of view... you go where the easy money is. :shock:

If they would remake Ghost Recon, with better graphics and add a few more maps, I would gladly pay 50 bucks for it... oh well, we can always dream.

But then again...

BFBC2 Beta wasn't ALL that bad.

The patches have SUCKED though.

EDIT: I might get it for the SP only. It looks top notch.

MOH always has a top-notch SP, there's no debating that xD
I remember the first time I installed MOHPA, I bought the Director's Cut and watched all the extra stuff before I even started the game, and I was already satisfied lol
