I have two W7 pc's, One is my video server - 32 bit 7 Pro Core I7 and one is my entertainment PC 64bit 7 Ultimate Core I5. Conected with Gigabit wired LAN.

When I play video on Media center over my LAN, it pauses every couple seconds - doesn't play smooth. I discovered that if I navigate to the video folder within windows (on a mapped network drive) and open the folder that the video files are located, The media center imediately plays smooth video. I have been doing this work around for weeks now. It works every time without fail. The video is always jerky until I open the file folder that contains the video that I am watching on Media center.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Obviously the PC's and the network are very capable of smooth video since the Media Center plays perfectly - when the file folder is located and opened.

Any clues?

Thanks

I believe I solved this issue. I am using MS security essentials as my virus software and I put in an exception for my network drive (with the dvd files) - (Exclude these files) and it has been working fine for two days now. I suppose the PC playing the dvd's over the network was trying to scan all the data comming in. I'm surprised that no one had any suggestions, I guess everyone here is just looking for answers like me.

Thanks
Jon

The fact that you posted back to your own thread with a real solution is going to help countless other people because MSE is a very popular anti-virus software.
