I have finally bitten the bullett after 3 days solid. I have tried everything possible i have searched endless forums and have come to realise i just dont think my computer wants to fix it.
The problem i have is my router now has a ip address of 169.x were as the origonal one was 192.168.x.x. Since it has changed it will not let me access the router settings so i can change anything. The reason this has happened is i tried to install a desktop remote application with run along with my pc and laptop but as i was quite impatient to install i ran through a few quick settings it asked me to change on windows settings and now i cant remember what i changed. I have copy and paseted the read back i get when i press ipconfig on cmd prompt. Could somebody please put me out of my misery and help me to convert it back, i have read on a few places that the DHCP is the problem.

Suggest you reset your router. There should be a pin-sized reset button somewhere at the back of the router. Then follow steps to reconfigure the router as given in the manual/cd.
Thank you very much for your reply, i have tried that but nothing it still seems to be the same. Even tried leaving the router unplugged over night. I think i have changed something that i just need to change back, is there any way to reset the network settings in Windows 7? Or should my ip be static as apose to DHCP. I have now plugged the thernet cable stright into the computer so i am not using the wireless router and it is still the same so i need to access the modem and change the settings which i changed foe enabling DHCP or something like that. Is there no bypass i can access it by araprt from 192.168.0.1.
