Had this issues and as an unrelated matter had to reinstall OS, video was working fine off fresh install but after doing updates and such it's messed up again where any media player will crash/freeze after a few mins of video. Any help would be appreciated!

No specific video, I can recreate the same error with any format. H.264,mkv,avi,wmv, they all do the same thing and I have combined community codec pack installed.

haven't tried uninstalling codecs but never had this issue before and also, vlc will crash as well. Pretty much anything that's a stand alone player crashes with video. Browser vids play fine tho.

Turns out it's a known issue with EVGA Precision. Either uninstall it or add video player to exclude list fixes the issue. Hope this helps someone if they're having the same issue. ^_^
