Media Streamers: choices and methods?

Hi all, first post in a while due to recurring illness.
I was about to make the post when I realised that I had not changed my Specs since an upgrade, so please see them if needed.

I am looking at streaming TV from and to my NAS, (which stores all backups, music, video and photos in separate "drives" on the NAS 2TB Hdd) Panasonic TV, PC and laptop. the TV is around 7 years old, 32" and is accompanied by a matching Panasonic DVD & Hdd Recorder. Both are just as good as the day they were first switched on, but it is not of course a "Smart" TV setup. I don't have Sky or any form of Cable TV, only Freeview. I would like to be able to access Internet TV and any other TV services out there, including possibly Netflix (or similar) and stream them or record them on the network.

I have been looking at the WD Live but I cannot find out if it is able to access and work with a NAS to store content recorded on the PC or DVD recorder. Does anyone know if it can, or know of a better Streamer, or method? Uncharted territory for me, I will be grateful for any advice folks!

I use this. JUSTOP Droibox Ace Android 4.2 TV Box Jelly Bean OS Allwinner A20 Dual Core (you can buy it on Amazon if you prefer). You also need to download and install from Google Play a UPnP/DLNA media client on it. There are some free ones and even the paid versions are only a few pounds. The NAS should already have a DLNA media streamer such as Twonky. You should also be able to connect to Windows media player on your PCs which also acts as a DLNA streamer.
