Hi guys!

I am pretty new to this forum and i have a problem, when my pc has been on for a few days all my ram is being used. Isnt the ram supposed to "free itself" after i exit an application?

My specs are as follows :

Motherboard - Asus p6t
Memory - Corsair XMS3 Vengeance 12GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz
PCU - Intel i7 920 2.67ghz
GPU - Asus AMD 5990 2GB
Operating system - Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1

After a few days online my tackmanager looks like this, see attached files.

Any1 got any ideas what is wrong? if something is wrong :P

Thx in advance

/Gandy

The screenshot looks great, virtually ideal. There is nothing wrong.
A high value for "Cached" is a good thing. The higher the better.
A low value for "Free" is a good thing. The lower the better. The ideal would be zero free memory at all times but we are not there yet.

At all the times the OS will try to find some use for as much memory as possible, even if only of trivial value. Free memory is wasted memory and Windows hates waste. The idea that free memory is necessary or desirable has been obsolete for many years.
