Solved Memory Crashes

Hey guys,

I'm having some rather obnoxious computer problems as of late. I keep getting these Blue Screen errors that say something to the effect of IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Memory Failure, and it says it's creating a dump file.

A little bit of background about myself might be useful as well. I play TONS of video games on my computer and have a fairly large collection of music files and photos, with a small collection of E-Books in Audio and PDF format. My hard-drive isn't over 50% full yet, so I figured I was safe as far as actual room goes. Most games I play are on Steam, but I also play Nexon, Hi-Rez, Riot, and Blizzard games. I've got a guilty habit though of having around 5 tabs open in Google Chrome however while I'm playing games.

Thanks again for the help by the way. If anyone is able to fix the issue with the crashes, it'd be most appreciated. If they managed to also fix the flicker issue, they'd totally be my hero.

My specs are:
Model: SYX-760GM-E51
Manufacturer: Systemax
Processor: AMD Athelon(tm) II X4 630 Processor 2.80GHz
Installed RAM: 4.0GB (Might be DDR3, but pretty sure it's DDR2)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

If you need more on this, I can dig out the full spec sheet with all parts listed. Below I'll post any and all of the recent issues and what has been done to fix it as well. Hoping what's wrong isn't my doing. >.>

Also, I didn't catch in the instructions for this kind of post if you needed me to attatch the files from the Mini-Dump folder or not, so I didn't. If you need me to however, I'll be more than happy to do so.

Recent Issues:
My screen will occasionally turn black for a second or two but resume functioning as normal (like a flicker, but not constantly like a flicker), I have never found a fix for this. Anyone whom I've asked has said it's a resolution thing, but I have the recommended settings in place. Using a HDTV from Sanyo as my monitor connected to the video card via a HDMI Cable (not the RGB cables).

I've let a friend use my computer while he was over, and he downloaded something or another that winded up being a virus. Cleaned it out with Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security. Also uninstalled some game that was largely porn based that he downloaded. -_-

I changed the power supply one day after I woke up and found that I could no longer turn on my computer. It would get juice but not power on, so I ended up taking it to the local "Geek Squad" at Best Buy, and they changed it for me.

What I am seeing is memory errors like you say, but the debugger is consistently spitting back a direct x component as the source.

It might be a good idea to wipe your current video driver installation and reinstall with the newest version.

I would be more specific but that is the only information you seem to have left out.

your graphics card make/model.
If you are using the motherboard graphics and not a graphics card, it's ATI and you should be able to track down drivers using this
AMD Driver Autodetect

Ah, Im using a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and stuff for it as you requested. =)

hd5700 series is really all I needed to know same drivers for the whole 5xxx series, has the problem occurred since you swapped out the drivers?

I was actually going to suggest using
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper
To scrub the display driver before reinstalling the latest. Graphics drivers can be really stubborn and leave behind bad components even when the regular uninstaller is used.

If your problem is gone don't bother using driver sweeper to wipe the display drivers.
That is only something I'm suggesting if the problem persist.

Sweet deal, thanks. I'll be sure to have this downloaded in case the occasional flicker happens again. Have any tips though for the memory dumps thing?

If you are asking how to read the memory dumps yourself it takes a bit of doing.
I guess the best place to start would just be to google windbg

I was referring to my computer randomly blue-screening actually. Was it the driver thing that fixed that? Sorry, I'm kind of dumb.

As I think I said in my first post the crashes were all related to directx.
Directx is what windows uses to display video and 3d stuff like games.
So yes it's connected to the video driver.
If you want to go one step further you can check and make sure directx isn't damaged (though I seriously doubt it is) by doing this.
