Memory Dumps

Please tell me about memory dumps. Had one today that disabled Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) KIS indicated it was a memory dump. Does that sound legit ? I was using Chrome when event occurred.

What is and causes a memory dump ? Thanks !

Memory dumps are when a program experiences a fatal error or bug, it saves a log of what it was doing at the time so you can debug it and find the problem. I'm afraid i have never used Kaspersky so if this is a regular problem I wont be able to help.
I would suggest swapping out that nasty retail antivirus for a free trusted alternative such as Avast I personally dont trust retailer antivirus after a sales job I had made me push Norton

A display or printout of the contents of memory. When a program abends, a memory dump can be taken in order to examine the status of the program at the time of the crash. The programmer looks into the buffers to see which data items were being worked on when it failed. Counters, variables, switches and flags are also inspected.

Thanks for the replies. I did full scans with no probs reported. Will monitor.
