Ok, I ran memtest86 for over 9 hours and got strange results. On pass #6 the test seemed to jam itself, recycling errors showing in a line to the right of the screen, but the individual slots showed no error.

So I removed two of the four sticks (the oldest ones) and rebooted, and the machine would not boot at all. I tried 3 times.

Switched out the ram and booted on the old sticks, and the machine booted, but with lots of errors. Error messaging service would not open, and the desktop was off, with all the icons in the task bar missing and the task bar white instead of black.

I booted and loaded memtest86 again and it is running now (pass 1 complete, no errors).

If this works with no errors, are my problems now because of corrupted files?

The probable cause of these crashes are corrupt win 7 files. I would run a system file check. to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin
sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")

If you are overclocking stop
If you have adjusted your ram or bios voltages return them to stock

let me know if you need help

I ran memtest86 last night, 5 passes with no errors. I was going to put the other two sticks in to test them, but now my machine WILL NOT POST. I get a black screen. The machine is on, everything plugged in (memtest86 displayed fine) and the lights are on (fans, but NO HD drive light). I even heard the vid card spin up its fan for 20 seconds. I see the display on my monitor looking for analog and digital input, it stops on digital, the screen goes live (a brighter black, meaning that the display is DISPLAYING black, not just off) but it never goes past that. No self test, nothing.

Just to make it interesting, my daughter got the same from HER computer after I went to bed last night.

Now, this sounds like a virus, but what virus could propagate thru my home network and stop the machines from posting?

UPDATE: Two Trojan Horse Viruses found on one of my Flash Drives and my Laptop. I will have to create a disk to scan my computers at home, but how do I do that if they don't post?
