Memory problem

I got a 2x2gb XMS2 DDR2 1066mhz memory in MSI 770T-C45 board

The memory is only working on 800mhz so I changed FSB/Dram in bios from auto to 1:2.66, and then it shows 1066 in BIOS. Then when I restart it says CMOS checksum bad
Press F1 to Run setup
Press F2 to load default values.. etc.
and it changes back to auto

Help?

Try a BIOS update? Maybe there's a BIOS update for your board... But honestly, I'd stay away from overclocking anything unless you know what you're doing... In my past experiences, using a high density memory modules will at times give problems, because high density memory has a lot of signals running all over it. Bad signal due to lots and lots of noise can cause loss of data then can lead to many other bad (or even catastrophic) incidents. If you want to use high density memory modules, you'd need at least 1 ECC/buffered memory module in each channel to maintain good SNR, or you can use 1x4 instead of 2x2...

I got the newest BIOS update :/ I just think it is weird that a 1066 memory can't run on 1066 This MB is just terrible in any ways possible! It should support 16gb because the 770 chipset does, but MSI says that 770T can only use 8gb, and I can't use 2x2+1gb because it has to be from the same package to work :s So if I buy a 1gb today, and another exactly the same tomorrow, the board wont work, because it wasnt made in the same time! This is so stupid!

No no no, you got it wrong... the one that interface directly to your memory banks is your processor, AMD 64bit series processor have integrated memory controller. The one that can't handle high density memory is your processor, the chipset has nothing to do with it. Your memory can run at 1066, but you need to remember - you need a "compatible" memory controller to be able to run at 1066. Maybe if you upgrade your processor, you might be able to use 1066 without overclocking...?

You should check the processor memory compatibility list, and how much can it support... Or, don't upgrade the proc, use the memory @ 800MHz...

Types of Memory: Unreg. DIMMs up to PC2 8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) and PC3 1333 (DDR3-1333MHz)

I think you're good to go there.
Did you correct all your memory settings? Timing, cache etc.
And yes I know I just asked the obvious.

If your bios misread the timing (auto detect by default) it can make for some pretty unstable memory. Mine was read wrong on a new build and it took me a little bit to figure it out. Worth a shot.
