Solved Memory Question

Let's say I have an ASUS P8Z77-v Deluxe motherboard which has 4 Dimm slots and is dual channel, I've installed an Intel core i7-3770K Processor which is also a dual channel, if I install quad channel memory, will it work?

Emoclaw, it will not. Your motherboard only supports dual channel.

So if I had a quad channel motherboard, and the processor was dual channel, would that work?Or they both have to be quad channel?

The memory controller is in the chip, so no it will not work.

On your first post to be clear, the ram will work, but in dual channel mode.

Yes you did. And as mentioned in that article it is down to the memory controller as to how the memory runs, not the motherboard or memory itself; at least now a days with most (all) CPU's having the memory controller integrated in them and not on the motherboard.
