Memory Timings?

I've never really checked to see where the memory timings are displayed in my BIOS/CPU-Z, I changed some "memory timings" options in my BIOS to"5, 5, 5, 15, and Auto, and now CPU-Z is showing this under memory:



Am I correct in assuming that those are the "5-5-5-15" values that are advertised for my RAM? Also, shouldn't the DRAM MHz be closer to 1066MHz since this is 1066MHz RAM?

That is showing you what you have set it to not what is advertised and your RAM is DDR2 so multiply the figure by 2 and that is your actual speed 1048.2Mhz, it should be set in your bios at 533.

It's set at 1066 in my BIOS right now (although it tells me the "actual mem frequency is 1048.2Mhz) ... Are you saying that if I set it to 533 it will change that DRAM value to 1066?

It all depends on the bios, mine has it at 400 in the bios but it is actually running at 800Mhz so I say 1066Mhz in your Bios is correct.

*confused*... I know the FSB x CPU multiplier / 4 gives you your Processor speed, is it similar for the memory Mhz (ex: Mhz in BIOS x 2 is the actual Mhz)?

It is linked in a way but you can change ratio's of CPU speed to RAM speed, yours is 7:11, mine is 1:1 because the BUS speed on mine is 400 and so is the RAM speed which is preferable.

So for you to have a 1:1 Ratio you would have either OC your CPU or Underclock your RAM so you would need to change the BUS speed to 533Mhz for a 1:1 Ratio or change your RAM to 375 or 750 as your Bios would show it to Give 1:1 Ratio @ 3Ghhz CPU speed.

If you overclock your BUS to 533Mhz with your 8x Multi you will have an Overclock of 4.264Ghz which you wont get stable so to keep the 1:1 Ratio you would have to drop the Multi to 6x and then you would have an overclock of 3.198Ghz and keep the Ratio to 1:1.
