Messed things up trying to install Ubuntu?

I dual booted Ubuntu into my lap which already had windows 7 Home edition on it.
With it I installed NeoBCD to facilitate the choosing process when you boot and configured. But something went wrong and when I tried to configure things I accidentally uninstalled the Windows 7 boot loader.
Now everytime I start it says "NTLDR is missing".

I don't have an installation CD or a bootable CD because it came with the Laptop. I do however have a Windows 7 ultimate installation CD.

what do I do?

Method One
Boot into Ubuntu and sudo apt-get install grub and let it become your boot loader

Then type...sudo nano (or vi or vim or joe or whatever text editor you got) /boot/grub/menu.1st

append to the end of the file this...
title Microsoft Windows 7
root (hdx,y) (replace x with the number of the HD according to where it is installed...if this is you only HD...0, if hd number 2...1. replace 7 with the partition that Ubuntu is on
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1

Example....
title Windows 7
root (hd0,2)...remember that 7 installs TWO partitions (one for System, one for OS so that is 0 and 1 there)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1

Save the file and reboot...you ought to be able to select Windows 7 and boot with no issue...

Method Two
Insert the Windows 7 Ultimate DVD and boot into Windows Setup. On the Choose the language screen...choose "Repair My Computer"...choose startup repair...let it detect problems and try to fix them...you might have to do this multiple times

After that you can boot into Windows 7 but Ubuntu won't be bootable...we can solve this with EasyBCD

The issue is that it isn't even booting into Ubuntu.
I get the initial start up screen and then the message.

That means you haven't got a bootloader at all now...

You will need to get yourself a working recovery DVD of 7 (installation disc) or Just reinstall Ubuntu and let it install Grub (it defaultly does)

Unlike some folks...I haven't ever had an issue with Grub so I normally recommend it in cases like this

From the terminal...

>Double-Click the partition for your Ubuntu OS on the Live Desktop (This is easier than mounting it from the command line)
>sudo apt-get install grub
>sudo update-grub
>sudo grub-install /dev/sda1
>reboot and see if you can boot into Ubuntu native

I have never personally used the option...so I forgot about it
