MFC90u.dll

I have a program (Adobe's Lightroom 3 Beta) that was installed in 64-bit mode and working perfectly. Saturday, I went to launch it, and I immediately got an error message stating the the Computer was missing mfc90u.dll. I found 2 mfc90u.dlls on my computer, both in the Windows/winsxs directory. I explored the Windows install disk, and found there is no mfc90u.dll anywhere on the 64-bit version of W7 Home Premium.

I removed the program and reinstalled. Same error. I removed the program and installed the 32-bit version of Lightroom 3 beta. Works fine. Still no mfc90u.dll anywhere on the system except in the 2 files in winsxs.

According to Microsoft, the 90 series of MFC was introduced in April 2008 through Visual Studio.

Hello Welcome tio SF,

Did you try to reinstall VC++ 2008 it might fix it. Go to Program and Features and remove the VC++ 2008 and download the VC++ from here and install it and see whether it works

Didn't Work

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not solve the problem. There is no Visual C++ to uninstall. I downloaded the VC++ 2008, installed it, but nothing changed. And Windows Home Premium has the Windows directory so locked down that you cannot change ownership of an of the folders in /Windows, so I could not even replace the DLLs I had with ones I got from another Win 7 user at work. Because the Win 7 install disk does not contain these DLLs, I doubt a repair will work, but that is my next effort. Any other ideas?

If you have permission issue the follow this Tutorial and Take Ownership of the file. If that didn't help then
Run the System File Checker
Start > CMD > Right Click and Run as Administrator > SFC /SCANNOW
If that also didn't Repair then Yes Run a Repair Install
