Mic not working on windows live

Hi!
i am trying voice chat over windows live. i can hear the person on the otherside, but he is not able to hear me..this happens with other people with whom i try to chat also.
but everything works just fine with skype. i appreciate whatever help that can be extended regarding my problem. Thank you in advance.
